The Café

*Coronavirus Update – 6.9.20*

*Outside Tables to re-open for Cafe Customers, extended hours AND increase in customers permitted in the Shop*

We are very pleased to announce that, for the first time since lockdown started, we will be re-opening the outside seating area for use by our Cafe customers. Sorry, but we can’t re-open the inside Cafe at the moment due to social distancing requirements.

The Cafe will be limited in that we will not be serving hot food, but many of the usual favourites will be available including cakes, savouries, sweets and ice-creams together with our full range of hot and cold drinks.

Re-opening the seating area has presented us with several challenges to keep our customers and volunteers safe, so please bear with us whilst we are all getting used to the additional cleaning and other regimes required to comply with Covid-10 requirements.

Please abide by all of the Government guidelines when using the Cafe, including 2m social distancing and wearing face coverings while inside The Shop, and please follow these procedures:
  • Join the queue outside and when prompted by a volunteer please enter the Shop wearing a face covering (unless exempted)
  • Use the hand sanitiser by the Shop door when entering
  • Follow the one-way system in the Shop by following the arrows on the floor
If you are a customer of the Cafe, our volunteers will ask you to:
  • Place your order at the Till and pay
  • Complete our “Test and Trace” signing-in book: you will be requested to provide your name, telephone number and arrival time (if you are part of a group we will just require details of the lead member); your data will be retained in accordance with the Government guidelines
  • Collect our order from the side hatch (there will be no ‘table service’)
All food and drinks will be served using disposable utensils; please place these in the bins provided when you have finished.
The customer toilet is available for use by Cafe customers only; please join the queue at the Shop entrance and enter when promoted. Please use the sanitiser provided by the toilet to clean your hands before entering and again when exiting.
Many thanks for your co-operation with all of these measures and we look forward to seeing you soon!

The Café is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea or a snack.

It’s also a welcoming and comfortable meeting place – and you can check your emails and browse the web at no charge.

In December 2019 following a visit by Worcester Regulatory Services, their Inspector awarded us a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 “very good” – the highest rating that can be achieved!

Donald tells us: ‘The Shop at Crowle is much more than a shop! It’s a friendly meeting place for the community. The coffee and cake in the Café is very good, and I enjoy catching up with old friends and meeting new people.’

The delicious cakes and many other temptations in our Café are supplied by Lisa Andrews of Crowle. Some customers make a special journey for Lisa’s carrot cake – not to mention her chocolate brownies and Mars Krispies!
